Before a pharmaceutical company can begin testing drugs and medicines on humans, they are tested extensively in a laboratory, and thus most clinical trials produce expected results. This research lasts a number of years, and only if successful will the drug testing progress to humans.

The testing that CenterWatch conducts is normally done in three phases, each of which requires a large number of people to participate. Phase one involves assessing the drug’s safety, which is initially done with a small sample group. This usually involves some form of payment. Once side effects and results have been gathered from this, the study progresses to phase two. This involves testing for efficacy, which may last for several months, and typically involves a larger control group. Once phase two is complete, phase three will involve thousands of patients, which involves in-depth studies.

It is in phase three that CenterWatch require the most participants, and they are willing to offer payment for participation in some trials. Some of this involves cash payments, while the free drugs also offer some form of incentive.
