Consumer Product Testing CentreThe Consumer Product Testing Centre is a part of the Food Processing Development Division of Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development. They work in conjunction with Alberta’s agri-food industry to develop new food products and processes, thus adding value to Alberta’s agricultural commodities. Many of these new food products are then evaluated through a series of taste tests, conducted through the facility. Each panelist who participates in these tests gives their honest opinions and feedback, which assists the product development team to assess which products are viable for the market. The main types of products tested are potato chips, tortilla chips, kettle chips, snack mixes, crackers, potatoes and potato products, pasta meals, yogurt, sports drinks, energy drinks, chocolate, cookies and meat products that include beef steak, bison steak, fried chicken, chicken fingers, pork chops, and deli meats. If you think that you could offer assistance in this research, then the Consumer Product Testing Centre would like to hear from you. Registration forms are available onsite in the form of a downloadable Word document or a PDF. All you need to do is fill this in and mail it to the address provided onsite, and then CPTC will let you know when a test comes available for you to participate. Most panels only take 10-30 minutes to complete, with panel participation being limited to only 3 or 4 times per year. There are also opportunities to complete some tests in-home, with all participants receiving a cash honorarium. General Information
